Dr. Hendrik Witt

Ubimax Co-founder Dr. Hendrik Witt is passionate by the wearable computing paradigm and its industrial application domain since its early days. Hendrik has an extensive track record with more than 15 years of wearable computing and embedded system development experience. His PhD thesis “User interfaces for Wearable Computers” was supervised by Prof. Thad E. Starner, one of the wearable computing pioneers and today one of the senior advisors of Ubimax. Hendrik has authored more than 25 international publications on wearable computing and is a frequently requested speaker on the topic. Before founding Ubimax, Hendrik worked many years as strategy consultant for top management consultancy Arthur D. Little and as technology consultant focusing on wearable computing for industrial applications at the TZI in Bremen.

Mr. Jan Junker

Ubimax Co-Founder Jan Junker is passionate to deliver innovative and high quality solutions to customers helping them to immediately achieve tangible business benefits. Jan has more than 10 years of professional experience working at the interface of business and IT. He holds an information management diploma (Diplom-Wirtschaftsinformatiker) from the University of Mannheim and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Western Illinois University (USA) with focus on international accounting and marketing. Before founding Ubimax, Jan worked several years for international top management consultancy Arthur D. Little as business IT alignment consultant where he was involved in several strategy, high-tech and business-growth projects.

Mr. Percy Stocker

Ubimax Co-Founder Percy Stocker is passionate by driving market adoption for innovative products while ensuring a companie's internal operational excellence. Percy has more than 10 years of work experience in professional services and consulting. He holds an information management diploma (Diplom-Informatiker) from the Technical University of Munich. Before funding Ubimax, Percy worked several years for Arthur D. Little as an IT strategy consultant with focus on technology innovation management and R&D organization and performance. During his professional career Percy also worked several years for SAP SE as interim manager within a program setup to ensure fast market adoption of SAP’s innovative in-memory database HANA.

Ubimax’s senior advisory board consists of wearable computing pioneers, providing valuable advice to the Ubimax team during customer projects and solution development.
Thad E. Starner

Thad is a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and is most well known as one of the pioneers of wearable computing. Thad is a co-founder of the IEEE International Symposium on Wearable Computers (ISWC) and was a founder and first member of the MIT Wearable Computing Project. Thad has been wearing computing devices of some form daily for over 20 years. He has produced over 400 publications and presentations on his work. Today, Thad supports Ubimax with regular advice on product development and customer projects especially in the US region.

Michael Lawo

Michael is a professor at the University of Bremen for applied computer science, member of the TZI board of directors, managing director of the artificial intelligent group, and manager of several EC funded projects. He is one of the experts for industrial wearable computing and has published numerous books and papers on wearable computing. Michael was and is leading various lighthouse initiatives in the field of wearable computing such as the IST funded EU project “wearIT@work” which still is the world’s largest wearable computing project ever conducted. Michael supports Ubimax with regular business and wearable computing advice and actively takes part as senior advisor at Ubimax’ customer projects in the European region.

Paul Lukowicz

Paul is professor at the University of Kaiserslautern and manager of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). He built up the wearable computing group at ETH Zurich. Paul went on to a professorship in computer engineering at the University of Medical Informatics and Technology in Hall, Austria (UMIT), working on healthcare related applications of pervasive and wearable computing as well as context recognition. From 2008 to 2010 he was in charge of the wearable computing department of the IEEE Pervasive Magazine. His work today strongly focuses on wearable computing, sensors and sensor networks. Paul supports Ubimax with technology from conducted research projects and advises with regard to wearable computing, activity recognition and sensor systems.
